So mah house is about an hour's drive south of my school, so my stepdad picked me up yesterday.  We took a detour, however, to stop at his work, because he needed to finish up a few things.

While we were there, I (a) ate a bunch of Girl Scout-y Brand Chocolate-Covered Toffee Bites and cashews;
(b) read the first chapter or two of The Kite Runner, which I also spent most of today perusing.  My verdict so far is that it's good, but kind of depressing, and that I'd sort of expected it to be this pinnacle of literature, wisdom, prose, etc., etc., etc., given the way people talk about it.  And it seemed early on like Hosseini was just piling unnecessary woes on his main character, whose case is not particularly helped by the first-person thing, which I tend to have issues with, but I'm liking it a lot better now that I'm closer to halfway through.

Er, anyway.

So I discovered a great deal of awesome things, and I took cell-phone pictures, and then later I figured out how to access them, and now the world can admire them.

Oh, how I love my cell phone camera.

First of all, revel in the slightly disturbing picture of Jesus on my roommate's wall, which happens to be directly across from my desk:

...something about that picture just don't sit right with me, yo.

And then one time I was waiting for class to start and took a picture of our bell tower at skool, where I do lurn things.

And after that brief interlude, here's the stuff that I ACTUALLY took yesterday:

So we were walking to my stepdad's cube, and I glanced at a sign and did a double-take:

My stepdad explained that the conference rooms on his floor of the building are all named after people and places from Lord of the Rings.  I geeked out.  Apparently the second floor is Simpsons stuff, and the third floor is Star Wars.  He led me over to the list by the elevator:

U GAWT 2 B KIDDIN ME AHAHAHAAAA.  I was so excited.

On the way out, we took the exit that led past some pretty important places...

Is it too late to go into engineering and work there?

Really though, that's got to be kind of awkward sometimes... like, HAI, I'LL MEET YOU IN GALADRIEL AT TWO O'CLOCK!...

That aside, I thought it couldn't get any better in any way, and then I saw the most amazing license plate in the universe in the parking lot.  Now you, too, can partake in its wondrousness:

I saw the Giant Problem episode of the Backyardigans again today, and this song once again reminded me how amazing life is.  YAY.

OMG! I love this post! I have an obsession with LOTR and this almost made me cry tears of happiness and giddiness! Somehow people think LOTR was horrible literature and then I have to go all Elrond and kick their ass!

I would so have that license plate, that is beyond amazing!

Thank you for making me smile after a long day at work!

Ha ha! I think I'd geek out and take pictures too if I saw that LOTR themed sign.

I'm not quite sure, but I think that the same picture from the poster was in a children's bible that my brother and sister had from the late seventies/early eighties. I always thought it was strange that the kids are from the 20th century.
