Word Up
Yes, indeedly, I'm home at long last... I took a shower this morning, in my real-and-true-and-mine bathroom, which, while we're still having an ant problem, was quite devoid of the crickets that sometimes enjoy congregating in the one in Oak Ridge.  Also, around here, the water's never cold, even if somebody did just take a shower before you.  And even in the Death Humidity of Tennessee, cold showers aren't refreshing for more than about a minute before you're just howling inwardly and hurrying your freezing ass up...

I think that made sense?

Emm... Hate flying.  That ain't never gonna change.  Airports suck.  Airplanes suck.  Delays suck.  Airport food is obscenely expensive and often somewhat mediocre.  At least this time, I took off baronanriel's sweatshirt before going through security, so I didn't get patted down.  Didn't you know that wearing clothes too big for you is a crime in America now?  Shame on you.  You must be a terrorist.

No, actually, these flights went pretty well, especially compared to Monday's.  Our first flight Monday was delayed over an hour, and we barely made it in time to get food and board our connecting flight, which, as it turned out, sat on the tarmac for twenty minutes waiting for other connecting passengers' luggage anyway.  At which point we got in at one in the morning local time, couldn't find the shuttle dude who was carting us to my grandparents' house, and... chaos!  This time, we managed to slip into one of the exit rows and sit together, all by ourselves, no less, as it was just two seats, and had a splendid time playing extraordinarily insipid card games and then collaborating on a very bizarre comic.  Then we had plenty of time to make our connecting flight -- particularly once it had been delayed about half an hour! -- where we also managed to sit together.  We had a shitload of trouble finding my stepdad after we got in, however; my navigation skills are about as sharp as a peach, even with all those helpful signs....

But we made it, which is the important part. ;)

Oh, also, check out my mad poetic-prose skillz: We were ushered into the state of California by the last vestiges of the fading twilight, the horizon glowing red between the dark oblivion of the world below and the swimming indigo of the boundless sky.  As the night swelled, the prism at the edge of vision slowly succumbed to the uniformity that had swallowed civilization but for the orange lights spinning in the black carpet of the city, unfurled and unblinking.

Mostly, that just sounds pretentious, but hey.  Pretension might get me into a creative writing class this time around.

I am now going to scuttle off and type up the eight -- count 'em, eight -- handwritten pages I threw together on the various planes.  And yes, it's for the last piece of the 'HaM' series.  Don't get too excited, though; most of it's fairly sub-par... I blame the stale plane air.  Rather than, y'know, my inability to write. XD

Well, I'm not paralyzed
But I seem to be struck by you
I wanna make you move
Because you're standing still
If your body matches what your eyes can do
You'll prob'ly move right through
Me on my way to you

...That is a really interesting video.  Creative, cool, and quite unexpected.  Give it a go.
